Dear Georgia –
I suppose you think it’s about time I wrote you. You’ll wish to know that I received your parcel OK and thank you very much as it was certainly nice of you to remember. I hope our in better health as Auntie Kate was telling me you weren’t well.
I saw Cecil Slack yesterday at Purely a place where the Regt’s hockey team practices. We were conversing a while and he stated he was in a 9.2 Battery on the Dover Strait doing survey work there. There has been no mail coming from home since December 22nd. Oh yes, Freddie Thompson who is in our Regtl Head Quarters is married now and it was just lately too. In fact about two months ago. I went down to rent a radio for the house to have for a couple of weeks before we leave and I didn’t know till the second time I went there that the business girl behind the counter was Freddie’s wife. She said “Hello Peter”(notice how that name of Dad’s carries with me). In the meantime I was gasping because I didn’t know how she knew me when she told me that she had asked Freddie if she knew a Gnr. Francis and Freddie told her we were good friends. She is a very nice girl from my point of view and Freddie has certainly settled down.
The weather here has been nasty for a long time and I have had a wet set of clothes for over a week which does not help a cold in the least. I’ll say Good bye for now.
