My first letter to you in the new year and on the 13th too. Its lucky you’re not superstitious or do you consider 13 a lucky number. I’m back in the unit now and find it distinctly changed. However I received two letters from Muriel, and she informs me Jean got married (quoting her) she married a Gordon so I imagine it is Gordon Hudson or am I wrong. I hope she’s happy as no doubt she will be. Cliff Baker with whom Ray corresponds and I’ve known since Sept 6th ‘39 was over to see me and in Raymond’s recent letter feels quite alone she being the oldest. I wrote her last night and she still has lots of time to wait and I sincerely hope she makes a real match because she’s one of the best. Muriel’s fine and altho’ I’m short of word from she mentioned that she has corresponded with you. What do you judge of her letter or do you?
It’s rather hard to form an opinion sight unseen but she is a lot like Ray H for example. I’ve sadly neglected writing Katie but I believe her to be prejudiced against my marrying or at least that’s what Muriel understands so I must make an attempt rectify things. I’ll close for awhile and resume later when it’s quieter and I may think a little better. Now it is 0200hrs and things are quiet for a change so maybe I can finish In peace. Things usually bang all day and some commotions are prominent. I was just thinking today whilst looking at the calendar that il soon be 23 and its funny how quickly time slips by. It seems only yesterday when I was twenty-two and pretty soon the twenty-three dawns. I’ll hope to be home by next New Year’s however. Speaking of letters, I’m not newsy or startling but it’s merely a line to go on. Bye for now and hoping this funds you all well –
