Dear Georgia –
Here I am finally to try and do letters justice which I have received from you. I received a letter written in Nov. just the other day previous to the one you told me of Auntie Kate’s death. I wasn’t terribly surprised to hear of it but I should’ve liked to see her when I get home. I imagine she is much better off where she is now. I thank you for your thought of the bond and frankly it doesn’t bother me had I received nothing. We’re starting on the ground floor when we come home and can get along. In fact am I spared the horrors of this I’ll be dauntless. I am eager to start. It’s be no easy task believe me and I am aware that changes are in progress but I hope to adjust quickly. I received a telegram today from Muriel for our wedding anniversary on the sixth. It was late but welcome. Our mail service isn’t exceedingly efficient. The weather is foul and mud is plentiful and things are fairly static. I sent Muriel a lace coverlet and also a white one which are pretty and I hope she receives. I don’t know whether I told you or not but when I was in convalescent camp in N.A. I purchased a 50 bond on the 5th Victory Roan and when another comes up I shall get a hundred dollar one. I’m glad you’re all over the flu and it won’t be long till spring is around the corner.
Gives those in the community my regards – Grants, Latimers, Mrs. Davidson and Simpsons and any other friends when you see them. I’m still jogging along. I didn’t get your parcel or Mrs. Elliots cigs but I got her parcel and your cigs. Rather a tough Xmas but there’s a job and there was trouble with mail thieves.
