Dear Georgia –
This will not be a long letter I promise you but I suppose you’ll be wondering where I am. I’m fine and in Northern Holland and we are doing some and have done some travelling. I just returned from 8 days leave in England with Muriel. Apparently the Admiralty will not release her until I am permanently repatriated or the war in Europe finished. Therefore it will still be awhile before she will come home and perhaps even I ahead of her.
I had a most wonderful time with the family and I was like a long lost son returning. I enjoyed the best of food and on the meager rations I ate like a king. They fed me the best slighting themselves and one could not refuse. I went to the sows and had an afternoons skating in Liverpool, Muriel and I went for a walk and we really enjoyed ourselves in quietness and fun. I really hated to come back but came back but I shouldn’t think it long till we come home again to stay. By the say Mrs. Davidson mentioned something about the possibility of Mrs. F. Grants place being for sale or rent and I’ve now taken ideas of a sort for I shall have a few thousand dollars to invest in rehabilitation again. I’d like to know with whom I could get in touch with because I’ll be coming home soon. I’m getting well up to priority in the list of men going to Canada. I hope real soon the dream of coming home will soon be true. Did you notice my one lone step up the ladder after all these years? I’m pretty happy about it.
Time is growing short again and give the kiddies my love and hope you’re all well. Received yesterday your letter of the flowers and thanks for your regard. But they weren’t wasted for I think you all like flowers too.
